Jurgen Klopp surprised two Liverpool fans with a special gesture on their wedding day.

Jo, 32 and Laura Craze, 38, sent an invite to the Reds boss asking if he would like to attend their big day on May 25. The couple, who booked their wedding that date in tribute to Liverpool’s Champions League win in Istanbul in 2005, said they sent the invite ‘as a joke’ to Anfield stadium and never expected a response.

Laura said: ” My wife, as a joke, sent a wedding invite to Jurgen because we’re both massive Reds. We only decided to get married on May 25 because it’s the anniversary of Istanbul. Though, when we booked the wedding we didn’t know it was going to be the biggest week of football!”

After sending the invitation, Jo and Laura thought nothing would come of it until they received a surprise phone call from their wedding planner. Laura said: “A couple of weeks ago our wedding planner said something’s arrived at the venue for you and it’s from Liverpool’s training ground.

“I was like ‘wow they’ve sent us something back, I can’t believe it’.”

However, on the envelope was a message. It read: “To Jo and Laura, do not open until May 25.” Abiding by the instructions, Jo and Laura decided to wait until their wedding reception to open it – but there was another surprise.

Laura said: ” Just before we did the speech, my brother, Rick, took me to one side…

“Little did we know his girlfriend, Robyn, had also written to Liverpool to say that we were getting married and that we are big Reds.”

It was at this point, that Laura’s brother handed her and Jo a framed card signed by the Liverpool squad. Then, during Laura’s wedding speech, the couple opened the envelope from Liverpool to find a letter from Klopp.

Laura said: “In my speech, I said ‘we invited a really special guest but he’s been a bit busy this week, but he’s sent us a letter’.”

Klopp wrote: “Dear Laura and Jo. I would like to personally congratulate you both on your wedding day.

“I hope you both enjoy celebrating with your family and friends. Thank you for your continued support of Liverpool Football Club.

“You’ll Never Walk Alone. Jurgen Klopp.”

Laura said: “It just made everything so boss, the day was perfect anyway, but we didn’t expect it.”

The couple are now looking forward to enjoying their honeymoon in the Lake District – and watching the Champions League final in a local pub.
